Being a student at the University can be very stressful. There is always one deadline or the other to meet. Assignments, mid semester exams, finals, and extracurricular activities all have deadlines and add up to the amount of stress we face as university students. These deadlines leave us wound up tight and stressed. To ensure we don’t go breaking down or losing it, we need to let off some stress. Turn it up and just blow off some steam. Sadly, this at times ends up being really expensive. Let’s look at affordable ways of having a campus party

1. Use your room

Your room is an awesome space if you are hosting a few friends over. It’s nice and cozy, already comes with seating (your bed and chairs) and has a nearby bathroom making it the ideal spot for your little turn up. Make sure to ask your room mates for permission and give them prior notice in case they need to find another place to be for the evening. Or you never know, they might also be in need of an escape from all the stress of school.

2. Group parties are the best way to go

Having a party with a group of friends is by far the most affordable way to throw a party. It could be a group of friends born in the same month, or just a group of friends who want to have a good time. Such parties are so much fun because not only does each person spend less on food, planning the party is done with your friends which can only mean more fun! It’s an amazing way to bond with your friends and it’s going to be much more enjoyable than doing it alone

3. Make your own finger foods

It is always cheaper when you cook food for yourself. You can gather a few of your friends, plan a shopping trip and make your own fried chicken wings and chips. Popcorn and hot dogs on a stick is also an affordable option to keep in mind. If your finger foods taste great, no one would notice how inexpensive they actually are!!

4. Get an awesome playlist

You can ask your music crazy friend to get you a party playlist or just download a party mix from the internet and plug it in. This would give the semblance of you actually having a Dj and once people have good music, there’ll be loads of dancing and fun! Which really is all that we want.

5. Get extra-large drinks

You save more with buying larger sizes of drinks than with smaller size. It is cheaper to buy a 9-pack of 2litres of Coca Cola for about 20 guests than if you buy 20 cans of the small size Coca Cola. Another trick with this point is, not only do you save more, you get more of the drink too! Having people pour out their drinks eliminates waste, which means more drink for your guest.

6. Use your own utensils

Use your own plates and cutlery at the party. A great way to save money is to use the plates your already have. Disposables tend to cost some good money and can only be used once. Serve your food on your own plates and have your guests use your glasses, cups, mugs and cutlery don’t feel shy if they are mix matched. It adds a retro vibe to the party which I’m sure your guests and the environment would love.

One last tip before I sign out, don’t be shy to borrow from your neighbors, friends and roommates. If you need more chairs, tables, speakers, plates, whatever, just ask your friends or those close to you because they’ll love to help. And remember, campus parties are meant to be fun, stress free and wild. Once the party starts, do not stress over anything at all. Let yourself go and have a blast you deserve it!
