Lucy Lisulo Mwape is passionate about empowering young women live a maximized life. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Zambia. She is an entrepreneur who manages a bridal business – Mushie’s Bridal Accessories. She hopes to expand the business to customized clothes, shoes and bags.
1. How did you start Mushie’s Bridal Accessories?
I was inspired to start Mushie’s Bridal Accessories during my wedding preparation. As I went from one bridal shop to the other, the more I became interested and inspired to start my own business.
2. What should a young person consider when starting their own business?
The first few things to consider are research, structured planning, funding and having the virtue patience.
3. How do you empower young people to live a maximized life?
I am currently running what I call Teen Mother’s shelter. With this initiative we mentor and empower young girls who became pregnant and have dropped out of school. We reach out to them using the word of God as most of them feel condemned by society and think they may not amount to anything in life. In a few months’ time, we hope to run training programs to build their skills-set to create wealth.
4. What is your definition of a maximized life?
Myles Munroe in his book “The burden of freedom” puts it this way, the richest place ever is the grave yard. It is a place where people are buried with great potential not maximized. By maximizing, I mean a person is able to utilize all that has been placed within them – gifts and talents, hence die empty.
5. What advice would you give to a young person reading this article?
Integrity is key to everything we do. Having strong moral principles will serve as a guide in your business and career.
